About Me

My photo
I am studying Textiles and surface Design at Cleveland College of Art and Design and currently in my 3rd and last year of study. My inspiration can come from absolutely anywhere. My last project titled 'Forgotten garden', was inspired by some photography taken around my home garden and in my local woods. I liked the way something could be so beautiful, yet so unnoticed. My new project is titled 'Structure and Mark Making'. I was originally inspired by a photograph of some crayons and my ideas have developed from there. I have now added structure into this project and i am drawing buildings and interesting fences etc. I will be using lots of colour, different media and techniques for this project and I am looking forward to seeing it develop! I will keep my photographs updated as I get further into the project. This will also be my last ever project in education so wish me luck!!! Also feel free to comment whatever your opinion may be!

I am not a trend follower

I believe for something to be truly origional it should come from the designers own mind, own thoughts and own surroundings. Those things put together creates something that no one else can possibly have. Origionality is hard to find, and is what i am aiming to create...

I will look at trends just so i have an idea of whats going on (I also have to in order to pass my course!)

Be inspired not pushed.

Haha found this picture of Alison kinda amusing so thought id let the world share her sillyness!!

So far.....with lots of changes!!!...again!!

Yet again i have changed my theme!!! Ive decided on Structure now, basically i found a pretty metal fence on the way to college one day and decided to draw it!! I think the randomness of everyday life was a bit too vague for me as i tend to go off on one if i have too many ideas, and i didn't know where to start!! so now i can stick to a smaller group of things to draw and find more interesting sources!

Luckily I took a few photographs in Dublin of buildings and some nice architecture,I also have loads and loads and loads from a trip to Cuba!!

Hello everybody, well, i have eventually decided on a theme for my major project....

'The Randomness of Everyday Life'. I have so many ideas in my little head that there all getting mushed up together and confusing me! So im going to get on with taking photo's and finding 'my path' before i do ANYTHING else. Luckily i finished my dissertation last night aswell so i can really get stuck in now!!

Visual Inspiration, Mark Making (Final Major Project)

Thanks to a trip to Pennys and Schuh I found my Inspiration for my Mark Making project. I also found an old Crayola box that inspired my colour pallet and the idea to draw mark making tools rather that just using them!
Although this project was originally going to be for Interior the inspiration from shoes has made me lean more towards fashion. I am thinking that whatever route I take I will make product boards suggesting my designs for the other market as I believe they will work for both.

Berries

This is my final length 'Berries' from the Hidden Garden collection. It is by far my favourite as i love the colours and the image. I could have used this image in so many different ways but i decided to keep it simple.
(Devore Velvet fabric with illuminated discharge stalk. The berries are firstly devored and then illuminated discharged with a dark plum colour. some sequin detail.)

Sunflowers

Below are photographs of my finished length 'Sunflowers' from the Hidden Garden collection. (Devore Velvet fabric with embroidered(mostly french knots), devored and illuminated discharge detail)

Nettles

Below are photographs of my finished length 'Nettles' from the Hidden Garden collection (Devore Velvet fabric with embroidered detail and Devored detail. Background hand dyed.)

Visual Inspiration, Hidden Garden

Photographs, Visual Inspiration

This gnome is nearly 20 years old! Although he didn't end up on any final lengths he inspired my project as he was very hidden in the back of my garden.

These are photographs taken by me at my local woods (Millington Woods)
